How will we get there?

North Carolina partners originally adopted six overarching strategies to reach the target:Adopted_Strategy_Groups

A one year follow-up meeting was held on September 24, 2012 with approximately 25 participants including two staff from the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center.  A review of committee action plans and progress was shared by the committee chairpersons and a brainstorming session was held to identify gaps, new strategies and workgroups.  Some changes were made to the structure of the committees. The Provider Education and Training Committee combined with the QuitlineNC Sustainability Plan.  A new committee was added to focus on sustainability of the initiative.  This group and the Policy & Systems  Performance Measures and Outcomes  will be internal committees to the Division of MHDDSAS.

The current strategy groups of this initiative are:

  • Facilities Committee
  • Consumers and Community Committee
  • Provider and Quitline Committee
  • Policy and Systems Performance Measures and Outcomes
  • Sustainability Committee

An additional strategy called “Managerial Focus, Prioritization, and Public Messaging” was to be led by Steve Jordan, the former Director of the Division of MHDDSAS. This strategy will be reassessed and assigned as appropriate.

Participants agreed to continue working on the strategies identified from the initial meeting and to continue their commitment to the initiative.
